Years of planning, praying and working are about to pay off!
Jim Kincaid, AWA Project Manager writes, "I have attached a picture of the 206 in the paint shop. It will be finished by about next Tuesday (June 24, 2003). We have made down payment of $2,000...and will need...$6,000 by this time next week. So please make it a matter of prayer. We felt we needed to jump on the opening in the paint shop even though we were not quite ready financially.
"As soon as the paint is done, the radios will be installed. We need the airplane by July 5 so we are on the fast track for completion.
"We will use the airplane for almost two weeks solid in July for a native village canvassing project we are starting. The goal is to visit every house in as many as 20 villages between July 6 and July 20. We plan to make this and annual project during the summer... We also have a youth group going to the village of Shungnak during that same time so there will be a lot of use as soon as the 206 is ready."
In 1997 Jim first presented a plan to AWA for the acquisition, refurbishing and operation of a Cessna 206 that had been wrecked. The plane was purchased in 1999 and has seen a host of volunteer laborers.
Check back for completion and operational photos in the coming weeks. Thanks for your prayers and support!
