AWA Cessna 206 Goes to Work
Jim Kincaid writes..."We launched the 206 last Sabbath (July 5) on a flight to Dilligham with five people to conduct four worship services in three native villages and one fishing camp. The airplane was received with enthusiasim! I borrowed $10,000 personally to pay for the paint and interior and we are still raising money to reimburse for that. It is wonderful to have it ready to use. It looks and flies really good as well! I started putting the radios in on Thursday and was done by sundown on Friday. It is well equipped." A few weeks later Jim made the following report, "It's a tremendous blessing to have such a capable airplane available to us now. It has a useful load of around 1500 lbs. Even with that load it gets off in near a thousand feet or less. We operated off a 1200 foot runway out in Bristol Bay on Sabbath with no problem." - Jim John Payne writes, "I just got back from the Fairbanks area with the 206. It's been an incredible experience. She's quite a bird!" - JP The plane has already carried teams to Dillingham and the interior. It recently spent two weeks flying Literature Evangelists to the Upper and Lower Yukon and Tannana Valleys.
The aircraft has been a real blessing! Until now access has been limited to smaller aircraft that have been loaned by private owners to reach people in the interior. Now we have an aircraft that we can schedule more frequently and depend on to carry heavy loads and up to 6 people out to the hard-to-reach places of Alaska.
